When booking directly through Sands Resorts to stay at the Sands Resort Ocean Forest Plaza Myrtle Beach SC you will get free admission to TWO water parks: The Sands Resort Water Park (Sands Guests Only) and the Wild Water and Wheels Water Park (Open To Public, Based on Availability and ONLY Seasonal). Both of these water parks offer fun in the sun water activities however the water parks are not on the villa grounds. If you want to stay where the water park is technically located you will need to check out the Sand Dunes Resort and Spa via Sands Resorts just 1.6 miles away or a 5 minute drive. Between both water park attractions there is a combined total of at least 7 water slides, various tot attractions for kids 48″ and under, spray waterfall, wave pool, bubble pool and lazy rivers. Although this will be great fun you will also need to know that Wild Water and Wheels is about a 30 minute drive. Both water parks tend to be overcrowded due to the Wild Water and wheels being open to the public and the Sands Water Park being shared among a total of 6 sister Sands properties. The upside is the seasonal water activities will definitely entertain your kiddos with water drenching fun. The Myrtle Beach Ocean Forest Hotel offers an outdoor pool, an indoor pool deck and a jacuzzi that will soothe your cares away.

Ocean Forest Plaza Accommodations

The accommodations here are 1 and 2 bedroom suites that will provide space, privacy and work great for those families with children. You will also have access to multiple overall indoor and outdoor pools across all the 5 other sister properties IF you book with sandsresorts.com. The Wild Water and Wheels water park is nice because it will give you access to a couple of tube slides, multiple speed slides and even a few mat slides. For tot attractions you will find a kiddie pool spot for kids to slide, splash and play. There is another area with a few more slides as well as a waterfall entrance into a cool cave and yet another kiddie area with a fountain and rain drops, mountain slide and another slide (gang plank style). Here you can also enjoy a wave pool (4 foot waves),a lazy river that is 950 square feet with various waterfalls and raindrop fountain features. To top it all off there is an adult only lounge pool that you can actually submerge chairs into and enjoy bubbles in a whirlpool like setting. For the water logged bunch you can hit the go-karts (a variety of kinds for various ages). The accommodations at the Sands Resort Ocean Forest Plaza consist of only 1 bedroom suites (oceanview or oceanfront). Your bedding choices are 2 long double beds in a private bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room or a king bed in the private bedroom along with a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. All suites have a full kitchen, living room, dining area and private balcony or patio. Some units can be privately owned so make sure you confirm the decor before you reserve unless an outdated one does not bother you. There are no washers and dryers which can be downfall for some however there is a coin operated laundry facility for Sands Resorts guests.

Tips for you: This property is not on the beach – you will have to walk across the street. Do not book with an owner directly if you wish to have access to sister resort amenities or water parks and other Sands Resorts perks. In order to access all perks you MUST reserve your stay via Sands Resorts directly at sandsresorts.com. This is 3 star property. The oceanfront rooms are the best. If you need towels ask for them early or you may not get any. There are many complaints of how some hallways smell bad. Ask for an updated room. The very top floor tends to be too hot. The 15th floor and above views are nicer. Oceanfront view balconies are very private.

Be aware: There are reports of people buying Lysol to spray in the hallways due to the bad smell (particularly the 5th floor). The parking area tends to be small and difficult to maneuver in – there are reports that people have scraped their cars, especially bigger vehicles. There are also reports of moldy showers.

Bottom line is: The Ocean Forest Plaza Sands Resort and Waterpark is not technically a “water resort” in the sense that it will be right outside your door step but, again, it does offer the use of the Sands Water Park at the Sand Dunes Resort not too far away. Combined with all of the other water features that each sister resort has you will have a multitude of water options to choose from.

Guest Room Perks

To stay at the Ocean Forest Plaza Sands Resort wouldn’t be my first, second or even third choice hotel. Although it is affordable it is not directly on the beach. However, all you have to do is take a quick walk across the street. If you are looking for some seasonal kids club fun and water amenities for your children then it might be just right for your family.

The Ocean Forest Plaza is in the upscale Ocean Forest section of Myrtle Beach, providing a quieter ambiance while staying close to area attractions. The South Carolina Children’s Museum, Barefoot Landing, Myrtle Beach Wave Park, and NASCAR Speedway are all within a 5 minute drive of the resort. The Ocean Forest Plaza is 7 miles from Myrtle Beach International Airport and 11 miles from Grand Strand Regional Airport. There is a complimentary airport shuttle to both locations.
