When booking directly through Sands Resorts to stay at the Sands Ocean club Resort in Myrtle Beach SC you will get free admission to TWO water parks: The Sands Resort Water Park (Sands Guests Only and Shared Among 6 Sister Resorts) and the Wild Water and Wheels Water Park (Open To Public, Based on Availability and ONLY Seasonal). Both of these water parks offer water fun but be aware that Wild Water and Wheels is about a 30 minute drive from the resort and the Sands Water Park is technically located at this resort’s sister property, just a 15 minute drive away. If wanting to stay on water park grounds you will want to check out the Sand Dunes Resort and Spa. Between the 2 water park attractions you will find multiple water slides, tot options and water splashing fun. They do tend to be crowded during high season so get there early. Kids do love the amenities here. It doesn’t end with water fun either. When booking via The Sands Resorts they will throw in freebies such as an Adventure Cruise and the Diamond Back Golf Course. Some people think of the Sands Ocean Club Resort Water Park housing THE Water Park but it only has an outdoor lazy river and pool on the oceanfront sundeck of the property. You will also find an indoor pool and hot tub. The Wild Water and Wheels water park houses tube, speed and mat style slides. Small children will enjoy the tot pool with smaller slides. The wave pool is fun for everyone and the 950 square foot lazy river is nice and relaxing. You can even run away for a few minutes to yourself at the adult only pool with whirlpool like bubbles that you can submerge a lounge chair into. The Go-Karts provided are for all different ages. The accommodations at the Myrtle Beach Sands Ocean Club consist of marshview and oceanview efficiencies, oceanfront standard rooms. You will also find 1 and 2 bedroom suites. The Marshview Efficiency provides 2 double beds, kitchenette, microwave, coffee maker and private balcony. The ocean view efficiencies are basically the same with the exception that the beds are extra long and they do not have kitchenettes. The more standard like rooms are oceanfront and come with 2 double beds and small fridge, microwave and coffee maker as well as a private balcony. The 1 Bedroom Oceanview Suite provides a queen bed, sofa bed, full kitchen and private balcony. The 2 bedroom suites are either marshview, oceanview or oceanfront and come with an over sized double bed, 2 twins, double size sleeper sofa, full kitchen, 2 baths and a private balcony.
Tips for you: If you rent from an owner direct you will not get use of the water park and other amenities. A lot of the rooms are outdated so ask for upgraded and remodeled rooms. The 17th Floor has the best views. The ice machines are only on 4 floors – ask to be near one. The marshview rooms tend to be quieter. Asking for a quiet room away from Ocean Annie’s will bypass late night entertainment noise from Ocean Annie’s – on the flip side you can sit out on some balconies and listen to the music. The pools can get crowded so grab a lounge chair early.
Be aware: There are complaints about roaches crawling on bedding. They are technically Palmetto Bugs that are commonly known in the Myrtle Beach area. The management is aware of the issue but their common reply is that they try hard to keep them away but they are common for the area. A lot of the accommodations are also privately owned and some decor could be outdated. It seems as if housekeeping will short you on towels. This tends to be a common practice among hotels in general so always ask for extra towels ahead of time. There are also reports of moldy rooms.
